En Plein air is a French expression, which means “in the open air.” Artists have long painted outdoors, but working in natural light became particularly important to the French Impressionists, such as Monet, who popularized the term. Plein air is still used to describe paintings created in the outdoors.
Portola Art Gallery is celebrating its 3nd anniversary at the Allied Arts Guild and 28 years as a gallery displaying artwork by distinguished local artists. The Portola Art Gallery artists sponsoring the event are: Tomiko Bailey, Karen Barone, Steve Curl, Doriane Heyman, Karen Leoni, Kim Lordier, Alan McGee, Stan Robbins, Julia Munger Seelos, Bob Seamans, Mary Stahl, Barbara von Haunalter, Nancy Wagstaff, Alice Weil and Stephen Woolery.
